(MC17) (INCYBER) Lightweight, authenticated key exchange for Internet of Things use cases
In this presentation, we will give an overview of standardization activity within the Internet Engineering Task Force on a lightweight authenticated key exchange protocol (LAKE) adapted to Internet of Things use cases. We will discuss the requirements of LAKE and its components, enabling it to be used in the most constrained radio communication contexts. We’ll detail the protocol’s notable aspects and discuss its foundations and security core. We’ll review the main points of its formal security analysis and see how feedback from the scientific community has influenced the protocol’s design. Finally, we’ll look at how the LAKE protocol fits into a wider ecosystem and how it can be used for the efficient integration of devices in low-energy networks.
