TR01 T&S Data behind the Platforms what’s next for transparency reporting



The DSA aims to enhance transparency and public accountability for online platforms, with transparency reports serving as a key tool in this effort. Over the past few months, VLOPs have submitted their reports, and now, for the first time, all online platforms operating in the EU are following suit. But this is just the beginning. Soon, platforms will need to adjust their internal workflows to align with the data categories outlined by the Commission in its November 2024 template, which becomes mandatory in July. This standardisation will ensure consistency and comparability across reports, setting industry benchmarks for transparency.
How significant will this shift be in terms of workload for platforms? How can they streamline the data collection process? And what benefits will regulators and transparency advocates gain from these new requirements?
