TR05 T&S Has trust in democracy survived the 2024 election year
2024 was a record year in terms of elections. More than 100 countries organised elections, mobilising nearly half of the global population, including eight of the world’s 10 most populous nations – Brazil, Russia, the United States, and also the EU. Confronted with disinformation, polarization, political violence fueled by national actors or imported through foreign interference, how did democracies respond to maintaining the trust of their population in the electoral process?
